nineteenth century ‘Malayalam’ , the language of Travancore- Cochin-Malabar,
now known as Kerala.( est. 1956.) Malayalam is a Sanskrit based language, in
words and in rules of grammar. 80% of the vocabulary in scholarly Malayalam
usage is from Sanskrit. It has the largest number of letters among the Indian
languages, and they represent all the sounds of Sanskrit as well as all of the
Dravidian languages. The modern Malayalam is based on the Grantha script (Arya Ezhuttu)
